Dr. Janice Christy, Principal
Welcome, Seahawks!

What Does Success Really Mean?
Success looks different for everyone, but truly successful people think beyond themselves—they also care about the groups and communities they’re part of. For you, that includes our school.
School is more than just a building. It’s where students, teachers, staff, families, and community members come together to grow. It’s where future leaders and professionals develop the social, emotional, and academic skills they’ll need to succeed in life.
As your principal, my job is to make sure each student and staff member has the opportunity to grow—both as individuals and as part of our school community.
Here's how you can make the most of your time at MBMS:
- Take learning seriously. Your teachers work hard to prepare lessons based on standards and data to help you succeed.
- Get involved. Join up with other people for good reasons - clubs, teams, or any activity in the school or community that interests you. This is how you find your place and your people.
- Speak up. I value your voice. Whether it's through surveys, emails, texts, or a conversation—I'm here to listen. Reach out to me at jchristy@horrycountyschools.net or text me at 843-424-0724.
What I Expect From You:
- Be kind. Treat everyone with respect. Keep your hands to yourself and think before you speak.
- Stay focused. Disrupting a class disrupts everyone’s learning. That’s not acceptable.
- Make smart choices. Safety always comes first—your decisions matter.
- Read. Aim to reach a 1200 Lexile level. Strong reading skills open the door to graduating on time and following the college or career path you choose.
Let’s make this the best year yet. Let the adults at school and at home support you on your journey.
You matter. Your success matters. Let’s do this together.
Peace,
Janice Christy
